The failure was related to the transmission which required replacement. This is an everyday car mostly used on the highway. The flawed design leads to cross leaks and solenoid sticking, which in turn leads to abnormal wear and the issues many drivers face when the car shifts gears. We purchased this and had it installed for approx. Since 1990, we have prided ourselves on our ability to offer the highest quality service and repairs, with the highest level of customer service. I could not afford the repair, so turned the car back to manufacturer as a voluntary repo. .
I have not had the cvt replaced for the 2nd time. They will also not stand behind their product and are unwilling to rectify it. Minor issues corrected under warranty, which expired in late 2005. The contact believes that a transmission should not have to be repaired within five years. Perhaps the worst part is it often happens soon after the warranty expires.

Called a mechanic friend, he said it's either the spark plugs or transmission problem. Failure was total and sudden and vehicle is undriveable without new transmission. When they were done it was determined the noise was coming from the transmission and it would need to be replaced. They know it's a dog. I first noticed the car losing power going uphill, then it became difficult to put the car in gear. All signs pointed to major transmission problem. Car was towed to dealer. The cost is going to be 8,500. On Friday May 2, 2008 heard a pop while turning left and experience the grinding noise. The Getrag box, which would be all-new, would necessarily be costly and take time to develop. Never had a transmission fail like this. This is not my first five speed and I'm shocked that this clutch is done after such little mileage. The transmission system used in these cars is unreliable I believe the manufacturer stopped using it after 2004 or 2005.
