Some of the action is humdrum and poorly lit and Katniss's use of the bow and arrow is almost laughable in this film. Snow meanwhile wishes to spring a trap to finish off the rebels. The third act is shocking and surprising, elevating this film to new heights. They're all amazing, but I must appreciate the sewer action sequence the most just from the hard work given from the cast and crew. No need to mention Jennifer Lawrence, who is already an Oscar caliber and on the top of the heap. But something about her clothing in this movie seems. You can't make a well rounded film when focusing on only one of those two things, but every 2-parter will have this issue.
Did they outsource the production to a galaxy far, far away from the first two movies? I just hope my comment will save at least one person from suffering. Glad that they were able to film some of his sequences before his tragic passing. I did not read the books, but I'm sure that those true fans were greatly let down. The script is a bit skeletal, with some of the dialogue being more functional than empowering, but overall the cast really make good use of their material. Speaking of nuts, the Nut! I try to understand fans, try to understand people that loved the books, but oh lord, how can someone rate this with more than average at best is beyond me. I didn't expected it to be a great movie, just a good action one,and it failed.
My audience laughed few times during this dark movie, and most of the times they were at Johanna. When you see this movie you will feel with rebels who have been oppressed and you will come to the feeling that evil doers and dictators will sooner or later get destroyed as a result of their wickedness. I must say, it was quite the continuation of Part 1, and if you adored Part 1 like me, you would have loved this! Some storyline or dialogue changes from the book might have helped. People have been really bashing this movie for the lack of action. Especially during his 'hijacked Peeta' scenes. Truly, that is because of Jennifer's portrayal as Katniss which hurts more than I thought.
One thing this movie nails on the head is the 'slow, dialogue' scenes. Hollywood strikes again with its horrific trend of splitting single books into multiple movies, and surprise! None of them top each other. The story was the weakest of all the before films, and it basically ended with with almost 18 minutes of credits. Josh Hutcherson gave Peeta more emotion and depth in this one and who surprises me the most. Given the first film in this franchise was a decent film, it has been disappointing to see the decline in quality to the sequels. As such, I already didn't have high expectations for part 2.
To answer that I'd need to point out a few variables. And on a final closing note, this film makes the eternal whining of the. The story was so captivating that I had to read the books. It is in some way very satisfying because of the emotional aspect that has been given by its' main character. Mockingjay part 1 was already a slight disappointment because they dragged out the final book into 2 parts.
But the main star here of course is Ms. Did the writer die and someone else had to finish it? Character motivations were all over the place, and plot points and lesser characters were severely underdeveloped in certain spots. But here I just felt like a spectator, watching from a distance. Jena Malone is back with the incredible and Johanna, and Johanna in this movie is maybe just as good as Catching Fire Johanna! And that is also because of director Francis Lawrence, who also directed the previous two. But there were a few positives of the film.
A noteworthy mention is for Phillip Seymour Hoffman, which I honestly knew little from his role as Truman Capote in the biographical drama 'Capote', who has a sense of attractiveness and calmness as Plutarch Heavensbee. Overall, Mockingjay Part 2 is an amazing movie and a perfect ending for the franchise. The first two Hunger Games films were able to create complete cohesive stories in half the time, but in double the time, Mockingjay churned out something that didn't really make any sense. And now that I think of it, the acting was much improved in this film, as a lot of actors seemed to be phoning it in with Part 1. Sometimes it felt too rushed. There were some cool traps and set pieces devised by the game makers, and I suppose the ending was somewhat satisfying.
